As from Monday 1 February the University Library offers you LibSearch, an improved library search engine for all students and employees of Maastricht University. It has a new interface and offers extra search options. You will find the new search box at the University Library homepage, the Search & Collections landing page and the LibSearch page.
In LibSearch, you can search (or browse) the library catalogue and the metadata of dozens of publishers, such as Kluwer, Elsevier, Springer, EBSCO and Wiley, in one go. LibSearch also allows you to search the catalogues of libraries worldwide, including the national catalogue PiCarta. Maastricht University results will be shown at the top of your search results.
For personalised features (such as borrowing, extending your loan period) you have to sign in on the top right of the LibSearch result pages. First time users have to activate their account here: http://umlib.nl/libsearch_activate. Your username will be your UM card number.
Although the system behind LibSearch is referred to as being intuitive, you might run into some questions during your first usages.
First of all: check our LibSearch page with a FAQ section, a manual, instruction videos and contact options.
We are ready to assist you:
- Feel free to address library staff at the information desks in the Inner City and Randwyck Library with questions. Opening hours
- If you are not in the vicinity of the library: ask your questions via the Ask your librarian webform on the LibSearch page. You will receive a response from one of our information experts, usually within one working day
We wish you good luck and better search results!
