It has been 50 years since the announcement that the mining of coal in the Netherlands was to come to an end. This fact caused us to search in our collections for literature on the mining industry in South Limburg.
The University Library has dozens of books on the origins and glory days of the mining industry, and also on the closure of the mines. This Spotlight contains a selection from this industrial heritage area, which was so typical of the South Limburg region. The books are in Dutch and can be borrowed from or consulted at the Inner City Library.
