Finally in Maastricht: Museumnacht. Maastricht University Library and its Special Collection were present on Thursday 15 April. Ten cultural venues opened their doors to the public. One of them was Boekhandel Dominicanen. There, Spoken Word was launched.

This night thousands of visitors went from location to location in Maastricht, admiring art pieces throughout the city. Museumnacht is a famous event that already takes places annually in big cities such as Amsterdam and Brussels.

One theme, seven different interpretations

For those of you who remember this successful event, in November 2014 the first Poetry Slam of Maastricht University took place. Following this example, the Spoken Word had its debut.

Around midnight on this beautiful evening, seven enthusiastic young writers/poets/singer songwriters performed their interpretation of Greek myths, inspired by the books of the Jesuit Collection. Visitors of the Dominican Church admired these books in an exhibition next to the stage. The evening was a big success and we are very proud that once again the Special Collections proved their value and relevance.

Hereby, we would like to thank all the artists, organisers and visitors who made it a spectacular event!

Best wishes,
the Special Collection Promo team | Odin Essers, Julia Auf dem Brinke and Ellen Vasić
