Publisher (APC) deals and discounts

Submitting UM and the MUMC+ authors can publish their articles Open Access in thousands of journals for free (100% discount) or with significant discounts on Article Processing Charges (APCs).

To encourage UM and MUMC+ scholars to publish Open Access, the University Library has made OA arrangements with academic publishers to enable UM and MUMC+ researchers to publish articles OA free of charge (100% APC discount) or with an APC discount (e.g. 15% APC discount) in high-quality journals.

Many of these agreements are part of a national deal between the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and major academic publishers. Currently, more than 21.500 journals are included in the OA arrangements.

In this guide, you will find an overview of the available arrangements and how you can use these deals.

How to make use of our APC deals and discounts

Open Access Journal Browser

Firstly look up selected titles in the OA Journal Browser to find out the APC discounts available to you.

The OA Journal Browser is the primary tool to determine which journals publish your paper for free or against reduced rates. The OA Journal Browser is updated periodically, but no rights may be derived from its contents.

If there is no discount for the title of your choice, you might check our individual publisher deals below to find out if there is a university or faculty discount that is not listed or updated yet in the Journal Browser. If in doubt, always contact the Open Access support team of the library.
