Maastricht University Press Conference Proceedings | publication agreement between editor and author

This contract is a publication agreement (“the Agreement”) regarding Conference Proceedings of scholarly conference papers and abstracts written by one or different authors (“the Author”) entitled NBM@Maastricht 2023 – Building partnerships for more sustainable, resilient and regenerative business models (“the Conference Proceedings”) to be published at Maastricht University Press (“the Publisher”).

The parties to this Agreement are:

The NBM 2023 Conference chair, Abel Diaz Gonzalez, on behalf of any other editors of the Conference Proceedings,

and

The Author, the signatory of this Agreement, participates in its capacity as the corresponding author of the conference paper for the Conference Book.

  1. The editors will
    1. Publish all conference papers of the Conference Book under an open CC-Licence (CC-BY): implying free access and reuse to all content without login/paywall. It also means that authors retain their copyright to their work;
    2. Take full responsibility for administration issues of the Conference Proceedings, including determining the title, mission, scope, and accepted conference papers; developing policies governing the (peer) review process, authors’ rights and responsibilities, manuscript submission requirements, and style guidelines; appointing editors, reviewers, and other staff; and all other matters on the administration of the Conference Proceedings;
    3. Inform the authors about the publishing conditions and license;
    4. Provide the author with timely and correct notification of any administrative changes relevant to the hosting and distribution of the Conference Proceedings.
    5. Publish the Conference Proceedings in an Online Version, available through the New Business Models Conference website (repository) and on the Maastricht University Press website.

 

  1. The Author will
    1. Take full responsibility for obtaining content contributors’ consent to include their material in the Conference Book under the conditions of this Agreement and obtain necessary permissions for reusing any third parties or non-copyrighted materials.
    2. When distributing or re-publishing the conference paper, the Author agrees to credit the Conference Proceedings in which the conference paper has been published as the source of the first publication of the manuscript and Maastricht University Press. The Author warrants that each co-author will also credit the Conference Proceedings in which the conference paper has been published and Maastricht University Press when distributing or (re-)publishing the conference paper.
    3. Produce the conference paper with all due skill, care and diligence, and following good scientific practice:
      1. The conference paper is the original work of themselves and any co-author and is not copied wholly or substantially from any other work or material or any other source;
      2. The conference paper has not been formally published in any other peer-reviewed journal, a book, or Conference collection and is currently not under consideration for any such publication.
      3. The Author and any co-author have not assigned and will not purport to transfer any of the rights granted to the editor of the Conference Proceedings during the term of this Publication Agreement.
      4. Submit all the corrections in due time as defined during the publishing process scheduled by the editor.

 

  1. Attribution
    The following citation to the conference chapter within the Conference Proceeding is included in any attribution statement: “ [year of first publication] [Title Conference Book] [Authors’ name and title op the conference paper]”, the attribution requirement of the Creative Commons license of the paragraph is fulfilled.

 

  1. Effective date
    The effective date of this Agreement is the date of the Author’s signature.

 

  1. Termination
    The editor has a right to terminate this Publication Agreement for quality, program, technical or other reasons immediately, including without limitation if the Author or any co-author commits a material breach of this Publication Agreement.

 

  1. Royalties
    As the conference paper will be published on the platform of Maastricht University Press, a not-for-profit publisher, there will be no royalties for authors.

 

  1. Processing charges
    The Conference Proceedings, published at the platform of Maastricht University Press, have no processing charges and no publication charges for authors.

 

  1. Claims
    The Author agrees to indemnify the editor against any claim or action alleging facts that, if true, constitute a breach of any of the preceding warranties or other provisions of this Agreement, as well as against any related damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses incurred by the editor and or Maastricht University Press. This indemnity also applies to any photographs, drawings or other illustrations supplied by you in the Conference Proceedings.

 

  1. Dutch law
    This contract is the entire Agreement between the Conference Proceedings editors and their authors, and one can only modify it in writing. The laws of the Netherlands will govern it, and the Dutch courts will settle any disputes about it. It will bind and benefit your respective assigns and successors in interest, including your heirs. It will terminate if Maastricht University Press does not publish the Conference Proceedings in any medium within one year of the date of your signature.
