ISBN registration

For your thesis or UM-publication

Request an ISBN for your thesis or UM publication

An International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is essentially a unique product identifier used by publishers, booksellers, libraries, internet retailers and other supply chain participants for ordering, listing, sales records and stock control purposes. The ISBN identifies the registrant as well as the specific title, edition and format.

ISBN registration via the library

Maastricht University PhD students and staff can ask the library to register an ISBN for their theses or other UM publications. There are no costs involved. Registration and approval take about  3 working days. We send the requested ISBN via e-mail.

In order to request an ISBN, please fill out the form below as complete as possible.

By obtaining an ISBN you will be able to take the necessary steps to ensure that your book is widely known and to maximise its sales potential.
