The database Eur-Lex covers texts published in the Official Journal of the European Union L (Legislation) and C (Information and notices), including legislation, international agreements, preparatory acts and parliamentary questions. ‘Case-law’ gives access to judgements of the European Court of Justice and of the Court of First Instance, as well as the opinions of the Advocates-General, as published in the European Court Reports and as provisional texts disseminated earlier by the Court of Justice. Also available are the Commission documents (the COM series and a selection of the SEC series), the collection of consolidated legislative texts and the texts of the Treaties of the European Communities and in later years the European Union. EUR‑Lex offers several types of search:

1. Quick search: find documents and procedures by typing keywords or numbers in a free text field.
2. Find results by search box on the homepage: search on document number or CELEX number.
3. Advanced search: narrow your search by collection, language, words in text/title, identifier, etc. Once you select a collection, the form displays only the relevant search criteria.

If you have words in an other language, it is recommendable to search in the concerned language version of Eur-Lex. When you have found the document you can switch again to the desired language. About EUR-Lex

In Eur-Lex zijn teksten opgenomen die gepubliceerd worden in het Publicatieblad van de Europese Unie L (Wetgeving) en C (Informatie en mededelingen), waaronder wetgeving, internationale overeenkomsten, voorbereidende besluiten en parlementaire vragen.   Onder rechtspraak vind je arresten van het Europees Hof van Justitie en van het Gerecht van eerste aanleg, evenals de conclusies van de advocaten-generaal, zoals gepubliceerd in de Jurisprudentie van het Hof van Justitie en als voorlopige teksten eerder verspreid door het Hof van Justitie. Eveneens beschikbaar: documenten van de Commissie (de COM-reeks en een selectie van de SEC-serie), de verzameling van geconsolideerde wetgeving en teksten van de Verdragen van de Europese Gemeenschappen en later de Europese Unie. EUR-Lex geeft ook links naar de registers van de instellingen. In EUR-Lex kun je op verschillende manieren zoeken:

1. Snelzoeken: typ trefwoorden of nummers in het vakje om documenten en procedures te zoeken.
2. In het vak “Zoeken” op de homepage: vul een documentnummer of CELEXnummer.
3. Uitgebreid zoeken: filter op collectie, taal, woorden in de tekst of titel, descriptor enz. Kies je een bepaalde collectie dan zie je in het zoekformulier alleen de relevante zoekcriteria.

Beschik je over termen in een andere taal, zoek dan daarmee in de betreffende taalversie van Eur-Lex. Als het document gevonden is, kan weer overgestapt worden op de gewenste taal. Over EUR-Lex
