CONTENT:
What to Expect
Depending on your questions, we will tackle these up to four topics within an hour. If more questions arise upon registration, we will schedule them for our next OA Publishing Hour.
These topics are available for discussion during the session:

1. Preparation and Funders: Finding and utilising OA sources, meeting funder requirements.
2. PhD Specials: Navigating OA for your PhD thesis.
3. Publishing Strategy: Policies, what journal to publish in, and OA requirements and strategies.
4. Publishers, Journals, Books: OA deals, spotting predatory publishers.
5. Authoring: Copyright, referencing, plagiarism (iThenticate), publication metadata.
6. Submission and Review: License to publish and any other legalities.
7. Publication, Registration, Archiving: Creative Commons Licenses, Pure registration, UM repository, Pure – ORCID sync.
8. Discovery and Reuse: search engines and indexes.
9. Sharing and Impact: social media, derived formats and measuring impact.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The learning objectives will be tailored to the questions raised by participants. Most importantly, you’ll receive personalised advice addressing the specific questions you bring to the session.

Target Group: Everyone at UM interested in Open Access and its publishing cycle.

Language: English

Prerequisites: When signing up, use the “Are there any questions you want answered”-box to write down the two topics you are interested in. Alternatively, if you have a specific inquiry not covered, feel free to note it down as well. We are here to address your needs, whether it is discussing the preset topics or addressing your individual questions. Your input shapes the discussion, ensuring it is both relevant and beneficial to you.
