Are you ready to boost your skills in high performance computing on the Dutch supercomputer Snellius and the Maastricht’s computing cluster DSRI? Then please take part in the HPC Autumn School at Maastricht University to receive a hands-on training!


Content:

During this Maastricht Autumn HPC School, experts from SURF and Maastricht University (UM) offer a wide range of sessions spread over two days.

The HPC Autumn School will take place from Monday 27 October till Tuesday 28 October at UM; all sessions are in-person events.

This training expects some prerequisites knowledge about:

  • Bash
  • Git

You can only attend day 2, if you attended day 1.

Learning objectives:

During day 1 you will:

  • understand what is high-performance computing (HPC)
  • learn basic details on clusters and supercomputers
  • do practical exercises on the national supercomputer Snellius effectively
  • apply the essential best practices on how to work effectively with large HPC systems

Program of day 2:

Using a high-performance computing system in the most effective and efficient way is not an easy task. Therefore, this course brings a follow-up to the first introductory Supercomputing course (part 1), where you can take a deeper dive into the use of supercomputers with a special focus on efficiency and good practices and a very practical approach.

Target audience: Anyone who wants to learn how to use

Language: English.

Course format: This will be an interactive training and lecture with opportunity to ask questions.
