It turns out: Recognising and Rewarding Open Science is not always easy.

To address these challenges, People & Development (P&D) and the UM Library have jointly developed a learning programme to collaboratively explore the Recognition and Rewarding of Open Science.

Would you like to be part of the change? Join our interactive learning programme consisting of three sessions, each requiring separate registration. You can sign up via My Learning in SuccessFactors (please find an instruction below). The first session will take place on 14 April or 20 April.

  1. Go to SuccessFactors
  2. Click on the View My Learning (Mijn Leeromgeving) icon under Quick Actions
  3. Find the course by searching for “recognising” in the search field at the top of the page
  4. Select the Program Recognising & Rewarding Open Science
  5. In the tab Agenda, click on the button “Enroll”
  6. Subsequently, sign up for the in-person working session dates you prefer (three in total).

What does the learning programme involve?

The programme combines a concise set of e-learning modules with guided working sessions. The e-learning modules provide essential background knowledge, including:

  • What Recognition & Rewards and Open Science entail
  • How to approach responsible evaluation of Open Science activities

The guided working sessions then translate this knowledge into practice. Participants collaboratively explore how Recognition & Rewards and Open Science can take shape within UM. These sessions offer a structured yet open space to:

  • Discuss real-life cases
  • Exchange experiences
  • Reflect on dilemmas
  • Develop workable approaches for everyday academic practice

The programme is mainly aimed at 1) supervisors of academics (such as full, associate and assistant professors) and 2) staff with R&R responsibilities, such as P&D advisors, policy advisors and committee members who need to evaluate staff for promotion.
