Maastricht Computing Days – Programming on the Vlaai visit

Content: This special edition of Programming on the Vlaai brings the initiative to the Maastricht Computing Days.

Programming on the Vlaai is a recurring series that brings together researchers and students at Maastricht University who use programming in their research or are interested in developing their programming skills. Whether you are just beginning your programming journey or already have experience, these sessions provide a welcoming environment to learn, connect with others, and expand your expertise.

Each session starts with an introduction to, or an in-depth exploration of, a topic related to scientific programming. This is followed by an informal work session where participants can work on their own projects, ask questions, exchange knowledge, and network with fellow researchers and students while enjoying a slice of vlaai.

This session will feature an interactive workshop on code documentation and reproducibility, led by the research software stewards of the University Library. The workshop will explore common challenges in documenting code, good practices, and tools that can help make your code easier to understand, use, and reproduce.

Code documentation is essential for making research code and software understandable, reusable, and easier for others to contribute to. It is also an important part of making research software Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR). The more accessible and well-documented your code and software are, the greater their potential impact.
