Maastricht Computing Days – High-Performance Deep-Learning on Snellius
The afternoon programme explores high-performance deep learning on Snellius and how its computing resources can be used to improve the efficiency of deep learning workflows.
Content: Learn how to set up your (preinstalled) software environment and overcome file limitations that can slow down your training speed. Grasp the technical capabilities of modern day CPUs and GPUs and how to use multiple CPUs or GPUs in a single training. Finally, discover how to find bottlenecks in your code through creating a (PyTorch) profile
Learning objectives: Enhance your deep learning efficiency by:
- setting up a software environment,
- optimising file I/O,
- leveraging CPU/GPU capabilities,
- profiling PyTorch, and
- utilising parallel computing.
Target audience: Anyone who wants to learn and connect with fellow participants, experts from SURF, DSRI and RCS team
Language: English
Format: Training/Short Course
Location: This workshop is organised on location to be determined (inner city or Randwyck).
Prerequisites: Participants may only attend this training if they have completed the Introduction to Supercomputing course on Day 1 (28 October 2026).
