Create a screencast

13 Sep 2020

Instead of filming, you can also choose creating a screencast or a pencast.

  • A screencast or video screen capture is a digital recording of the changes over time on a computer screen, enhanced with audio narration. It is suitable for explaining a concept or to provide feedback and can be done with several do-it-yourself tools. On VideUM we offer an example of a screencast.
  • A pencast is animated handwriting with audio commentary, as you might know from the Kahn Academy. Kahn Academy pencasts look like drawings on a blackboard, featuring a black background and text or formulas written in in different colours. A simpler version is filming yourself while writing or drawing on paper and (at the same time) explain what you do.
