Database info

The Trip database is an EBM search engine for health professionals, a tool to easily find clinical information material available on the web using the principles of evidence based medicine. Each result in the Trip database has a colour assigned to it representing the type of publication. These colours are also visualised in an evidence pyramid underneath the publication. Through this, the level of evidence can easily be assessed per publication. Systematic reviews and guidelines have the highest ranking, while publications such as ongoing systematic reviews/clinical trials and patient information leaflets have the lowest level of evidence.

Includes:

  • Evidence Based Synopses
  • Clinical Questions
  • Guidelines
  • E-textbooks
  • Patient Information Leaflets
  • Systematic Reviews (such as Cochrane Database, DARE)
  • Core general medical journals (NEJM, JAMA, Lancet, BMJ, Annals of Internal Medicine, BMJ Updates)

Trip Pro is the most advanced version of Trip. It has extra content and functionality, including:

  • 100,000+ extra systematic reviews
  • Medical images and videos
  • Links to millions of full-text articles
  • Export facility to reference management software
  • Advanced search

Clinical trials and guidelines on Trip have been assigned a Trip score. Clinical trials on Trip have been evaluated for bias using robotreviewer as an estimation of the quality of the clinical trials, while guidelines have been reviewed on whether they are narrative based or evidence based.

Updated on a monthly basis.
