The Story of Maastricht

Did you know the first human presence in the country from over 250,000 has been found in Maastricht? That the city is arguably the oldest continually inhabited in the Netherlands. That a German Emperor was married in the Sint Servaas even before the city of Amsterdam was founded. Or that Maastricht was the first Industrial City in the country.

Join us for a fast-paced journey into the layers of the past that have created the city we enjoy today.

Speaker Steven Tallman

The lecture is given by Steven Tallman. After a long international career at the global consultancy Bain & Company, Steven now lives in Maastricht and has completed the Executive Master in Cultural Leadership and graduated cum laude in 2024 at Maastricht University. Having lived and worked across Europe, the US, and Asia, he brings a broad, curious perspective to history, culture, and place.
