The following course is for researchers working with qualitative research material and willing to explore how FAIR could fit their work. The course will be informative but also hands-on and practice base.


Course Description

Qualitative research materials (e.g. interview transcripts, focus groups, policy notes) can benefit from the application of FAIR principles for scientific discovery. In this workshop, we focus on the essential elements of FAIR practices specific to qualitative research, reviewing the national recommendations for qualitative data reuse. The session offers both informative content and practical examples using the Circular Research Data Coursebook.

Learning objectives
By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • understand the key ideas of research data management, including the importance of FAIR within the context of qualitative research.
  • have explored the availability of data tools that can be used for qualitative research.
  • have prepared a repository entrance in the DataverseNL sandbox for a qualitative dataset.

Target group: Researchers and academic staff. This workshop is provided at a beginner level.

Workshop format: Online via Zoom (after registration, you will receive a link for the session). The workshop takes 2 hours.

Frequency of the workshop: Twice a year (1x per semester).

This workshop has the option to be in-person and tailored upon request (minimum of 8 participants required).
