Library Vlog #6: The GreenLibrarians

23 Apr 2019

The Maastricht University Library alias Greenlibrarians, joined the Green Impact Challenge and are now competing with other teams of Maastricht University. We teamed up with students, vegans, environmentalists, passionate educators, the management team, and students to advance sustainability at UM Library. Curious what kind of actions happened so far? And why we should give students a greater voice in tackling sustainability within the UM? Don’t wait and check out our brand new vlog.

The Green Impact Challenge

Maastricht University (UM) wants to be a sustainable University by 2030. The UM community is therefore committed to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (SDGs) by further limiting the ecological and social footprint of our operations. This ambition can only be achieved when words are translated into feasible actions. Luckily, at this year’s academic opening, the green office has officially announced (with a big boom) the UM Green Impact Challenge starting as from October 2018. The idea stems from an engagement programme, set up in the UK, that enables, accredits and awards university departments for sustainability efforts.
