The Board of Deans and the Executive Board decided unanimously to replace the Current Research Information System Metis by Pure from Elsevier/Atira.

The main purpose of the replacement is:

  • Improvement of the (international) exposure of research related output of all Maastricht University researchers including the Maastricht UMC+
  • Increased accessibility and availability of research related output for educational and research purposes
  • Reporting on universitary and facultairy key figures for annual reports, accreditations and Mid-Term reviews

Ease of use

Pure offers ease of use like the possibility to automatically import publications from databases like Web of Science and PubMed. Hereby the completeness of data improves. The data is up-to-date and manual input is reduced. Among others Pure offers researchers the functionality to register CV information and create CVs for different purposes.

An automated link between personnel and payroll (SAP-HR) and Pure guarantees up-to-date organisation data and personal data of researchers.
The data stored in Metis will be imported into Pure and a new showcase of scientific output will be launched (replacement of the current UM Publications).

The project, led by the University Library, has started in February. The Go live of Pure is planned for the end of this year.
