Developments in the digital assessment process during 2025, combined with the preparation for the implementation of new timetabling software, prompted a thorough review and further development of this tool.
The development of the Dexum Portal in 2025
In 2025, the existing tool was completely redesigned and expanded. As it now supports multiple stages of the assessment process, it was given a new name: the Dexum Portal.
Where the import tool was previously used mainly to synchronise the correct students per exam, the Dexum Portal evolved into a broader support platform for assessment coordinators. The renewed portal makes it possible to see which students will be added, select which changes should be applied, and determine the timing of these changes.
The portal also provides insight into required special facilities, such as screen-reading software, and shows whether colleagues have already set up exams. By doing so, the Dexum Portal made the assessment process more transparent and flexible. It was also designed to connect with other source systems.
In addition, the portal was extended with TestVision user management for UM staff, enabling new employees to be added efficiently and accurately.
What this means for our stakeholders
For functional management, the Dexum Portal provides improved monitoring capabilities and greater insight into the use of the assessment environment. This makes data housekeeping tasks easier, such as reviewing and cleaning up staff accounts when roles change or employees leave the organisation. These improvements strengthen the reliability and security of the assessment environment.
Overall, the development of the Dexum Portal contributes to a more efficient and less error-prone assessment process. Assessment coordinators and administrators benefit from reduced manual work and increased oversight. Students, in turn, benefit from a stable assessment environment in which they have timely access to the correct assessments with the appropriate facilities.
The solution is designed to be flexible and aligns with an assessment landscape that is evolving towards greater variety, flexibility and personalisation.
