Find out where you stand
On Friday 24 September 2021, the artwork ‘find out where you stand’ was unveiled in the Inner City Library. This light-artwork, made by Kathrin Schlegel, makes you stop and contemplate the world of information and knowledge in which we live, work and study.
It also makes you wonder about your own place in the world. There is a link with the Mercator Atlas in our Special Collections (a early 17th century Hondius copy). Curator Odin Essers gave an interesting presentation on maps of the world throughout the ages.
The idea for an artwork in the Inner City Library’s mezzanine was formed in 2018. An internal library committee has developed this idea, together with Mieke Derickx of the KEC (Kunst en Erfgoedcommissie). The KEC has contributed to the costs.
If you would like to see the artwork for real, go to the Library’s mezzanine and look up. Would you like to know more about this light-artwork? Please read this.
