Here are 4 ways to use Teams for group work to inform students about.
1. Communication via chat
Students can easily communicate with each other via the Teams chat functionality on their laptop and mobile device. They can create group chats to share ideas or coordinate projects.
2. Unlimited online calls & meetings
Students can make unlimited 1-on-1 calls or schedule an online meeting without a time limit. They have access to the most important functionalities, such as screen sharing and the whiteboard.
3. Work together in a shared document
Students can work together in Word, Excel or PowerPoint document.* Everyone sees the latest version with real-time editing. This is ideal for joint papers, presentations or shared data analysis. See the Microsoft guide: collaborate on files in Microsoft Teams.
4. Project based environment
For long-term projects, students can create a dedicated Team to share files*, notes and create meetings. This allows students to experience project-based work in Teams, similar to how companies and organisations use it. See the Maastricht University (UM) guide: how to create a new team in Teams at Maastricht University.
Teams support at UM
You can find a support page for using Teams in education on this website. If you experience technical issues in Teams or have a unique question that is not addressed in the documentation, you can raise a support ticket via the ICTS Self-Service Portal from Maastricht University.
* It is not allowed to share and store special categories of personal data (bijzondere persoonsgegevens in Teams). Read the privacy guidelines for using Teams.
