With the message “Knowledge only gains value when you share it”, we are launching the GO OPEN campaign this week. The campaign is part of the broader OpenUP initiative and aims to raise awareness and engagement around Open Educational Resources in higher education.

Freedom to choose, space to inspire

Open Educational Resources offer lecturers unprecedented opportunities. They make it easier than ever to access a rich collection of inspiring, innovative, and freely available teaching materials developed by colleagues from both the Netherlands and abroad. These resources enable lecturers to enrich their teaching and challenge their students.

A movement of sharing and co-creation

GO OPEN promotes a culture where sharing, reusing, and co-creating are key. Lecturers are encouraged to use existing materials and adapt them to suit their own teaching contexts. At the same time, the campaign invites lecturers to contribute their own resources to a growing collection of open content, allowing others to build upon their work. Developing teaching materials thus becomes a collaborative process, where peers support one another and continuously enhance education. The focus lies not just on access to knowledge, but on the power of collaboration and the ongoing innovation it brings.

Lecturers don’t have to take this step alone. The Open Science in Education team at the University Library offers personal support at every stage of the process – from finding and reusing open materials to creating, licensing, and publishing them. This support includes attention to copyright, discoverability, and impact.

Get involved: OpenUP workshop

To help lecturers get started, the University Library is organising a practical one-hour workshop where you’ll learn how to make your teaching materials FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). By the end of the session, you’ll have a concrete plan to open up your educational content and contribute to a fairer, more innovative educational landscape.

Ready to GO OPEN?

Are you a lecturer looking to future-proof your teaching? Join the movement and discover how you too can benefit from and contribute to an open knowledge network. Together, we can make education more powerful, inclusive, and future-ready.
