For the last 2023 episode in the series Talking about books, we were invited by Sharon Anyango to the beautiful garden at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS). Sharon Anyango works as an academic tutor, mentor and advisor at FASoS. We sat down with her in the FASoS garden, where she talks enthusiastically about the book Silent Spring. She explains to us why this specific book is influential in the field of global environmental movements. The author of this book, Rachel Carson, describes the use of pesticides and what impact pesticides have on our global environment now and in the past. Sharon also tells us how she uses this information from the book in her tutorials. She finally ends by describing her ideal world living together with nature.
