This decision was taken by the Education Platform (the consultation of vice-deans of education), based on experiences from various pilots within the education domain. Therefore, as of 1 August this year, Microsoft Teams will be the only system for online meetings and online education will be organised via Teams. It will still be possible to participate in Zoom meetings organised by parties outside UM.

What can you do with Teams?

Teams offers similar functionality to Zoom for video calls and online meetings, as well as extra possibilities to support on- and offline collaboration both within and outside of education. Moreover, Teams is integrated with other components of Microsoft 365, such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Starting this week, the recording functionality in Teams has also been activated.

Privacy

Just like Zoom, Teams is a cloud solution. Read the privacy guidelines to see how to safely work with personal data in Teams.
