Study places

The Inner City Library (ICL) is one of the two main libraries on the Maastricht University campus and has 1000 study places. It holds the collections for the faculties of Law, SBE and FASoS.

• This is your go-to place if you need to borrow books, use the reference books or if you seek library assistance.
• The library staff is there to assist you at the information desk.
• You can spark your creativity at the Makerspace (with 3D-printer) or the DIY Video studio.
• Need a break? Grab a cup of coffee or a bite to eat and enjoy it in our green garden.
• Or have a mindful break in the Mindfulnest, a stimulus free cabin where you are the main focus.
• The ICL is the home to our special collections. When you visit the Parlour on the ground floor, you will find all kinds of references to the library’s old book collection.

The Randwyck Library is our second main building, located on the East-side of the river Maas. The building offers room to more than 1000 study places. It holds the collections of the faculties FHML, FPN and FSE.

• You can borrow books or make use of the extensive reference books collection. On the second floor you will also find our anatomy collection.
• The library staff is there to assist you at the information desk.
• There are several bookable group rooms available.
• If you like to study in a café ambiance, visit LINK in front of the entrance.
• If you need a peaceful and quiet spot, visit the Mindfulnest.
• The Randwyck Computer Facilities include the computer rooms used for lectures and exams, individual students can also make use of the computers.

Paul-Henri Spaak (PHS) has 300 study places at your disposal.

• You can use the room dividers and move the furniture and plant racks around to create your own ideal study space. Great for team collaboration!

Tapijn 11 is a former military barrack where you will find 160 brand new study places.

• The colourful furniture, the amount of light coming in, and the beautiful surroundings, it makes a very popular study environment.
• It is the place where many students meet and catch up while enjoying a nice cup of coffee.

Tapijn Loods V is run by students for students, it offers room to 135 study places

• It is a multifunctional learning environment, with group rooms and individual study places.
• There is a cosy living room and a pool table available!
• You will need your UMcard to get access.

The University Sports Centre (USC) has 170 study places available, either for group or individual work.

• The study rooms are partly equipped with ergonomic chairs for an active and healthy sitting position, normal and standing tables.
• Combine your study session with a workout at UM Sports!
• You do not need a UM sports card to use the Learning Spaces, but you do need your UMcard to enter.
