Under the guidance of Odin Essers (Curator of Special Collections, Maastricht University), Linnea van Griethuijsen (Biologist, Maastricht Science Programme), and Dirk Traufelder (Scientific Illustrator, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences), children and parents embarked on a fascinating journey of discovery. They leafed through centuries-old books filled with intricate butterfly illustrations, examined real specimens under the microscope, and learned how scientific drawing can help us observe and understand nature in a completely new way.

The event offered a joyful and hands-on experience, sparking curiosity and wonder about the natural world and the intersection between science and creativity. The enthusiasm of the participants filled the space with excitement, perfectly capturing what the Weekend van de Wetenschap is all about: making science accessible, inspiring, and fun for everyone.
