The events attracted people from across Maastricht University and beyond, from complete beginners to experienced users.

The morning session focused on practical computing resources available to UM researchers. Through hands-on tutorials on connecting to the Data Science Research Infrastructure (DSRI), setting up JupyterLab  and JupyterHub environments, participants gained skills they would apply immediately in their work, as reflected in the positive feedback received: “I learned a lot, and it’s directly relevant to my work.”

Spanning two afternoons, the Autumn HPC School introduced participants to High-Performance Computing using Snellius, the Dutch National Supercomputer. Both sessions covered essential HPC concepts, with participants particularly valuing the hands-on terminal exercises and practical demonstrations.

The events were well-received, with attendees appreciating the clear explanations, and the lunch also offered a relaxed setting to build connections and share experiences.

The Research Computing Support team plans to organize similar events more frequently throughout the year to continue supporting the growing computational research community at UM.

We hope to see you at our next sessions!
