As from 1 February 2016, the University Library will offer LibSearch: an improved discovery tool for all students and employees of Maastricht University (UM). LibSearch is the successor to the current search engine Quick Search and the Catalogue UM.
LibSearch is a search engine that searches the collection of Maastricht University Library, as well as the collections of other libraries worldwide.
LibSearch provides access to more than 2.1 billion electronic, digital and physical resources. UM search results will be presented first, followed by results from other libraries.
To give you an opportunity to experience the new system, a beta version will be launched on Tuesday 3 November. This beta version will allow you to get the look and feel of LibSearch, but keep in mind that it is not complete compared to the final version that will be implemented in February. This means that in the beta version of LibSearch only e-content such as e-journals, e-books and databases will be searchable and findable. If your search result is a print book or journal, you will be linked to the current Catalogue UM or PiCarta. Therefore, you may not receive all the search results you might expect.
As from February 2016, you will be offered all functionalities in LibSearch so all your search results will link directly to the correct article or title or service such as Inter Library Loan (ILL).
