PebblePad Essentials Training

Working towards the academic library of the future

Through an initiative to support heritage institutions in making their digital collections more accessible and interconnected, the library successfully implemented advanced digital functionality within its existing Omeka S platform (software platform for digital collections). By integrating IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework), the library achieved enhanced metadata access, broader public availability, and full compliance with national heritage standards, making the collections more accessible and valuable to researchers and the wider public.

This project demonstrates how the fusion of technology and heritage can bridge the past and the future, breathing new life into historic collections and ensuring their enduring relevance in a digital age.

... that our data stewards spend a significant part of their week at their faculty’s research support office? Within the faculty, they provide personalised guidance to researchers. In addition, they coordinate with various colleagues such as the funding advisor, policy advisor, and information manager to shape policies, including contributing to the development of the faculty’s Open Science action plans.
