Behind the scenes of heritage protection
Over the past years, the department has worked on further professionalising its Collection Emergency Response (CHV) plan and emergency preparedness measures. A new video created for the occasion offers insight into the practical steps taken behind the scenes to safeguard collections, including risk assessments and collection care.
Why resilient heritage matters
The need for resilient heritage practices is becoming increasingly urgent. Worldwide, cultural heritage is under growing pressure from climate change, extreme weather events, digital threats, and geopolitical instability. Protecting heritage therefore not only involves preservation and access, but also anticipating risks and preparing for unexpected situations.

Bart Zwegers on heritage and climate resilience in Limburg highlights the risks that extreme weather and emergencies pose to cultural heritage, while stressing the importance of preparedness, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing across institutions.
