Activities were organised by colleagues from the University Library and Maastricht University (UM), as well as by external contributors. The programme included academic guided tours, thematic lectures connected to Victor Hugo, exploring his life, work and continuing relevance. Furthermore, talks on subjects ranging from pandemics and didactics to science communication and a fast-paced overview of Maastricht’s history. Visitors could also join reading sessions, embroidery workshops, a junior literature reading and writing activity, and a Chinese tea ceremony.
Throughout the pilot period, the Hugo and the Law exhibition was on display in the room. The exhibition can still be visited until mid-September. The programme welcomed visitors from both within and beyond UM, young and old. Everyone was welcome to take part. We look back on a successful pilot and are now exploring how Special Collections activities can continue to take shape in the future.
