On 10 June, the newly renovated library in Randwyck will unveil its refreshed spaces. Once you step through the well-known revolving door, you’ll enter into a calm and green ambience, welcomed by our dedicated library staff and students. Our extensive collections and services will be at your disposal, fostering an environment where visitors like you can focus on acquiring and sharing knowledge.

We’re planning a grand opening event to celebrate this milestone. To ensure the inclusion of new students, employees and all members of our community, we’ve scheduled the festivities for the start of the upcoming academic year, 2024/25. In the meantime, we invite you to join us in exploring the improved location in UNS50. The library will be accessible from 10 June until the usual three-week summer break.

Stay tuned for our next newsletters, where we’ll provide details about our summer programme. We look forward to starting this exciting journey on the renewed location together with you.

Unveiling the transformations

From fresh new floors to a new welcoming information lounge and sustainable furnishing, every inch of the place has been taken care of.  If you walk by UNS50, you will see that each day something changes within the walls of the library. Some elements are stripped, and others are adjusted or added.

Even the balustrades receive a makeover and are slowly but surely taking on their new shapes. With a wooden structure, it will give the entire space a completely new look. With the library being renovated, of course, this also involves adding strategically placed power outlets to the study places, to ensure your devices are always charged and ready.

The floors awaited their stylish coverings, setting the stage for the return of the revamped furniture and beloved bookshelves.

Introducing: the new anatomy room

One of the new concepts in the library is the anatomy room. As the name suggests, this space is entirely dedicated to anatomy. This dedicated space houses the anatomy collection and anatomical models and resources. Open shelves for easy access invite you to explore the collection, while height-adjustable desks ensure the anatomical models can be studied at any desired height and ensure comfortable learning at every level.

Stay tuned

Stay tuned for more updates on the renovation and innovation of the library.

In the meantime, the temporary library in Endepolsdomein 150 remains open until the move back to Universiteitssingel 50.
