Storage provided in the Azure tenant of Maastricht University. Different storage types are available (blobs, disks, file shares, tables, queues). Cloud Foundation will guide you in choosing the correct type for your data. Several performance tiers are available, from extremely fast to very low costs for archived data.

Database hosting
Database hosting (DBaaS) offers a database for storing application data. Databases are hosted on ICTS’s shared, centralised server environment. Hardware and software are managed according to UM security guidelines, including regular software updates and required security patches. This type of hosting is suitable for standard databases which are included as part of a purchased application.

DataverseNL

Ldot – Research Workflow Management
Ldot is a web-based tool for 1) storing participants’ personal and contact data, 2) safeguarding the study logistics and research protocol workflow and 3) communicating with participants, e.g. for elecontric informed consent. Ldot is not suitable for storing research data, but integrates with your other research data collection or storage tools.

Confidentiality examples
Public
- Definition: Data that is freely accessible to everyone, without restrictions.
- Examples: Information on maastrichtuniversity.nl, training information, public policy documents, press releases, public research results, public annual reports, public information about events and collaborations.
Low Confidential
- Definition: Data that is intended for internal use within UM, but does not contain sensitive or personal information.
- Examples: Internal manuals, process descriptions, internal news items, intranet pages, internal contact lists without private data, internal presentations about policy or organization.
Confidential
- Definition: Data that contains personal data or other sensitive information and must be protected from unauthorized access.
- Examples: Personnel files (non-special data category), student administration data, exam assignments and answers, assessment forms, internal reports, (pseudo-)anonymised research data, contracts and grant applications.
Highly Confidential
- Definition: Data with highly sensitive, special or strategic information, the disclosure of which could cause serious harm to data subjects or UM.
- Examples: Special category of personal data (such as medical or psychological data of students or staff), research data with ethical or legal restrictions, confidential research proposals, security incident information, strategic decision-making by the Executive Board, core financial data, intellectual property and patent applications.
