FAIR Coffee – FHIR for secondary usage of Clinical Data
On 23 March 2022, Ph.D. candidate and data scientist at the Maastro Clinical Data Science group, Ananya Choudhry, will present her lecture titled “FHIR for secondary usage of Clinical Data”. She will explore FHIR, the recently agreed upon information standard for sharing clinical data in the Dutch healthcare system.
UM is on a mission to become a leading example in the Open Science movement, which aims to make research papers, data, methods, etc. open to anyone so we can all benefit. The FAIR principles go hand-in-hand with Open Science and they form a great guide to make sure that the research you make Open, can actually be used.
In this session of the FAIR Coffee lectures, on March 23 2022 at 11 am, we’ve invited PhD candidate and data scientist at the Maastro Clinical Data Science group, Ananya Choudhry. Her domains of expertise include 1) Privacy Preserving Distributed, 2) Clinical Data Analysis and Infrastructure, 3) Data Modelling, 4) FAIR principles, and 5) Image Processing.
In her lecture titled “FHIR for secondary usage of Clinical Data”, she will explore FHIR, the recently agreed upon information standard for sharing clinical data in the Dutch healthcare system. Chosen due to its promise to ensure quality of data by adhering to the FAIR Principles, while also favoring an easier technical implementation, there are still many questions surrounding the adoption of this information standard. During this lecture she will aim to provide an answer to questions such as: “Can we use FHIR as a way for adhering to FAIR data principles in healthcare?”, “Is FHIR able to preserve patient data privacy?”, “Can FHIR aid clinical data analysis?” and more!
Each lecture starts with a short Open Science/FAIR intro, followed by an inspiring lecture from a UM colleague on how they applied FAIR in their work. There will also be a short “caffeine” quiz at the end of the lecture with a chance to win a Bandito Espresso voucher!
This session will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 23 March from 11:00-12:00. To find out more about upcoming sessions and to register click here.
