Perhaps you do not want to film your own video, or you want a format that is more complicated than your current video skills allow you to make yourself? Fear not, UM has support available for you! Use the toggles to find information on the different suggestions. If none of these options work for you, you can also take a look at the suggestions for external companies. Be aware that most of the options listed below, are not free!

Studio MBB

For recording professional webinars and interviews, studio MBB (Minderbroedersberg) offers high-end equipment and support for the best quality videos. Studio MBB Service offers

ScienceVision at MUMC+ & FHML

ScienceVision is a multimedia service provider at the Maastricht Medical Center+ (MUMC+) and the UM FHML faculty, offering professional audiovisual facilities. Services include filming documentaries, instructional videos, and live streaming of events. In two studios at the Randwyck campus, full broadcast facilities like multiple cameras are available for recordings and live streams. In addition, ScienceVision provides a wide range of training programs, including media training. Their services are available to the entire UM community and the academic hospital. MUMC+ related clients are served at reduced costs, faculties other than FHML pay a fee.

SBE Video Studio

The SBE studio can produce various video formats. Examples are recording knowledge clips, animations, short video messages, voice-overs, screencasts, Udacity style tablet capture. Use of the studio is free for SBE staff. Other faculties pay €150,- for the first 2 hours, with €75,- for every additional 2 hours. AV-support costs €50,- per hour.

External filming & animation companies

Of course, you can also use the services of other (professional) video making companies. In order to make sure that the video style and look agrees with the UM house style, the UM video team have compiled a list of preferred suppliers.

Digital Labs @ UM

Like the Makerspace at the Library, around the UM there are several more “Digital labs” that provide services, work on projects or do research into various digital technologies. Some are still in development. Follow the links to find our more information about them on their own pages.

Training & Courses

EDLAB regularly has CPD courses on video production and the use of video in education for UM staff. Have a look at their UMployee page for the current offer.

Platforms like CourseraEdXFutureLearn, and many others, offer (mostly free) courses on a variety of topics, including video making and editing.

Of course, YouTube is also a great source of inspiration and explainer-videos for making videos and podcasts.
