Zoom
Zoom is a video conferencing tool that is easy to use inside of Canvas or as stand-alone, either web based or as desktop app.
It enables teachers and tutors to manage synchronous (live) tutorial meetings and lectures with students.

For instructions on how to use Zoom, you can take a look at the following links.

Zoom Closed Captioning

To make your Zoom lectures more accessible for participants who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, you can add Closed Captioning to your conference or webinar. This allows the participants to read along with what you are saying in real time. We offer a manual to activate Closed Captioning in your Zoom meeting and one to upload and edit captions from Zoom recordings when sharing the recording via Mediasite.

Zoom lecture recording

Your UM licensed Zoom account has been verified and you already had or now have recording rights. Contact the Zoom support team in case your UM licensed Zoom account does not have recording rights yet.

In your own scheduled meeting, you will see a red record button in the meeting controls (you need to be logged into your UM licensed Zoom account). Click this button, and your lecture will be recorded. After you have closed the meeting, the recording will be made available in the cloud environment of Zoom for download (this can take a few minutes). Take a look at the official Zoom website for more information.

Make the recording available to students by downloading it (it will be available for download for 10 days only) and upload it through MyMediasite. Find information on how to upload and share videos through Mediasite on the Mediasite support page.

Zoom Whiteboard

Zoom Whiteboard provides teachers and students with a set of easy-to-use tools to collaborate together, to capture ideas, processes, and concepts.
It makes it simple for hybrid teams to interact in new ways for seamless collaboration.

For a more detailed walkthrough, see the Zoom Whiteboard User Guide.

Zoom support

Contact your Faculty video and Zoom support to get help with Zoom issues. You can find the contact details for each faculty in the table below.

If your faculty cannot help you, you can create a ticket using TopDesk. This will be forwarded to the Zoom specialists at the University Library and they will get in touch with you for further support. Please make sure to include details of your problem or request.
